About West Cumberland Mens Shed (WCMS)

A new Men’s Shed was established in the West of the Cumberland LGA to address the lack of a Men’s Shed in the area. Our 1 Acre site has had a varied life, it has evolved over its 200 years plus period to meet the demands of community expectations in many forms, Cobb & Co station, Farmstead, Council Tip Caretakers Cottage and other uses. Previous to our occupation the site was a Youth Centre meeting the demands of local youth. When we took control of the site in 2018, we started as a Men’s Shed and now offer membership to women on a separate day. Started as woodworking facilities, then evolved to gardening, laser engraving, scroll sawing and small boat/caravan repairs. West Cumberland Mens Shed (WCMS) plans to continue expanding the Shed facilities as required to meet our members needs and aspirations.

We now have a large tidy workshop with new equipment and plenty of workbench space. Today we have over 40 members and are housed in the old cottage on the bend of Hyland Rd just past the Small Bore Rifle Range. You are always welcome to come in to check out the facilities and have a “cuppa and chat”.

West Cumberland Mens Shed (WCMS) Ethos: “Tackling social isolation and loneliness, improving health and well-being, imparting new skills and developing and nurturing friendships are just some of the benefits which participants gain.” Safety is a high priority at the Shed. By providing a safer environment for volunteer members and visitors this high priority can be met.
